Rising Scholars Program at Rockefeller University (National Recognition/Award) - Class of 2027

I was one of 13 students selected to attend the Rising Scholars Workshop at the world-renowned research institution Rockefeller University located in New York City. During this program, I along with the 12 other students from undergraduate institutions across the country were able to engage in a multi-day experience featuring professional development seminars, as well as candid conversations with current graduate students and deans at Rockefeller surrounding pursuing careers in research. I was also fortunate enough to be able to engage in hands-on research based on characterizing microbial secondary metabolites. With this increased understanding of biomedical research and what it is like to be a PhD student, I hope to take skills I gained from this experience and apply them to my future career in research as a physician-scientist.
