Presenting a paper or poster at a conference: 8 points

This summer, I had the fantastic opportunity to serve as a visiting researcher through the Stanford Summer Research Program (SSRP), funded by the Amgen Foundation. Within the Stanford Biosciences Department of Genetics, I joined the Snyder Lab under the mentorship of Dr. Xiangping Lin. My project examined how social and demographic factors influence disparities in exposure to naphthalene, a hazardous air pollutant. This work underscores the urgent need to address environmental inequities, particularly in Black and Hispanic communities. Through this project, I strengthened my communication skills and became a more effective researcher through my experience in the lab and workshops hosted by Stanford. Finally, I was able to curate meaningful connections with like-minded students from diverse backgrounds.
