Personal Statement Writing Workshop (3pts) - Class 2026

Attending the personal statement writing workshop with Dr. Robinson was a beneficial experience that equipped me with a practical framework for creating a personal statement. More than this, Dr. Robinson was also able to provide insight into how admissions committees consider application materials, which was helpful when thinking through how to tailor each statement to my programs of interest. Having already attended a host of other personal statement writing workshops, including this summer’s workshop with Professor Benson, I found that the two experiences built upon one another to provide both creative and practical insight into the writing process. Professor Benson’s focus on memory and storytelling deepened my understanding of how to access my authentic voice, while Dr. Robinson’s session offered a clear, structured approach to shaping that voice into a persuasive statement. Overall, the workshop left me with a renewed sense of confidence in my ability to approach personal statement writing with both creativity and clarity. By combining introspection with structure, I now feel better prepared to craft statements that not only reflect my experiences but also communicate my goals and sense of purpose in a meaningful way.
