Participation in a paid internship: Interning with the Golden State Warriors - Kennedy Plummer 2027

This past summer, I had the honor and privilege of interning with the Golden State Warriors organization, with the community relations department. Throughout this experience, I shared my passion for helping others with the organization and my local Bay Area community. Within this role, I gained hands on experience in the community field: through game day events and activations, assisting with the planning and execution of community events, site visits, and day to day community tasks. Within this experience, the majority of my time was spent with the new WNBA in the Bay Area, the Golden State Valkyries. The opportunity to be apart of the impact that this new organization has made on my community through service has been the opportunity of a lifetime. Some of what I learned includes how to alter the service you provide for your audience, as professional basketball attracts fans across all fields for all different reasons. I also learned about how to best community relationships and show up for the groups and populations in need. Furthermore, this experience gave me the opportunity to integrate my skills throughout different corporate partnerships, contracts, and engagements. All of what I did and learned are skills and moments that I take back to Spelman with me, contributing to how I show up in the classroom, in the community, and everyday in life. I have strengthened my habit of mind by expanding upon my curiosity, my professionalism, and my skillset as a whole.
