Organized and Presented for a school-related event (6 points)
I helped organize and present at an economics-focused program titled Price Tag for my sorority, the Eta Kappa Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. The event centered on financial literacy, economic empowerment, and professional development, aiming to equip students with practical tools for managing their finances and preparing for long-term success. As part of the planning committee, I collaborated with chapter members to design the program’s structure, develop discussion prompts, and coordinate guest speakers from various financial sectors. We wanted to create a space that encouraged transparency and open dialogue about money management, student debt, and the racial wealth gap.
During the event, I co-facilitated conversations that unpacked the challenges many students face in building financial security and shared strategies for cultivating generational wealth. Participants discussed their experiences, exchanged perspectives, and worked together to identify actionable steps for improving financial literacy and career readiness. Through Price Tag, we not only educated attendees about the economic realities that shape our communities but also empowered them to become advocates for financial strength, equity, and informed economic decision-making.
