NaDae Ingham (Class of 2027) - Leadership In An Academic Honors Society

As treasurer of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) chapter at Spelman College, I participated in executive board meetings where members collaborated on planning and organising events focused on academic excellence, leadership, and community service. I worked closely with other officers to manage budgeting and ensure funds were used responsibly to support chapter initiatives.

This role challenged me to stay organised and detail-oriented while also communicating effectively with peers. I found it rewarding to contribute to a society that promotes achievement and service, and I gained confidence in handling financial responsibilities.

I connected this experience to my coursework in public health and science, as both require critical thinking, accountability, and structured planning to achieve meaningful outcomes. The leadership skills I practiced mirror those needed in professional teamwork and project management.

On a deeper level, serving as Treasurer taught me the importance of transparency and planning in leadership. It expanded my perspective on the behind-the-scenes work that allows organisations to thrive and deepened my appreciation for collaboration.

This experience has influenced my personal growth by strengthening my sense of responsibility and preparing me for leadership roles in my future career. Moving forward, I plan to apply these organisational and financial skills to larger projects, both academically and professionally, as I pursue my career in medicine and public health.
