Mariana Burgess- Leadership Role in an Academic Organization (3 points)

 

For this 2025-2026 academic school year I am serving as the Co-Vice President for the Spelman College Chemistry Club. In this role, it is my responsibility to aid the Presidents in leading over the club and stepping in when they are not available. It is also my responsibility to help in overseeing the planning of events and taking the minutes in the President/VP-advisor weekly meetings. 

My goal for this year in my position is to foster collboration and creativity amognst the rest of the executive board and to help find ways to increase engagement in the club. I am most excited about National Chemistry Week this year as this gives the club an opportunity to host a wekk of fun and engaging events that will draw in new memebers and increase knowledge about the club. 

I have been a member of chemistry club since my freshman year, so it has been exciting witnessing the growth and changes within the club and also seeing how impactful it has been to not just chemistry majors but all stem majors alike who find themselves taking chemistry while at Spelman.
