Library Card Bailee Brown (1 Pt)
I have recently acquired a library card at the Atlanta University Center Woodruff Library. As I'm starting to learn more about different topics, such as the African Diaspora, I am beginning to want to learn more in-depth. I hope to begin to use my library card to check out books that allow me to embrace and enhance my education. In my lifetime, I have gone to predominantly white institutions, which have only fed me resources that catered to white education. Through my library card, I can get access to the books that stem from black perspectives. With our current administration banning books, this library card will be able to give me rare access to books that are no longer discussed and philosophers that have been shunned. This card and the library itself are essential to my education. So far, I have been able to go to the library to do my assignments when my computer was broken, study for midterms, or collaborate in group work. Exploring the library is a daily activity, which I plan on continuing now that I have a library card to check out books with. This is not just a card, it is access to a widerange of resources that I plan to utilize.
