Kaitlyn Chiles - College, Calling, and Connection: A Reflection on My Visit to The Living Room ATL
On September 8th, I visited Buckhead Church for The Living Room ATL’s Monday Night Gathering for College Students. Though I was initially a little weary going into it, as I had never visited a Mega Church before and usually only attend services at my home Church, I was excited about the new opportunity and was open to the newness. Immediately, I felt at ease knowing that this was much different than a typical Sunday Service, as it was designed specifically for college students, pulsing with energy, worship, and authenticity. The environment was welcoming, the staff were so eager and excited to see new faces and even offered us food. As we began the introductions, I realized the Church was filled with young adults who looked like me, carried similar dreams, and were navigating the same balancing act of faith, ambition, and self-discovery. The strengths of this service lay in its relatability and atmosphere. The message that night centered on trusting God’s timing in the midst of discomfort and loneliness as we begin this college journey, and understanding that through him and his community of believers, we have a place of home. It was delivered with transparency and humor that made it feel deeply personal. The music and worship were uplifting, creating a safe space for reflection and release. This experience reshaped how I view spirituality in community. I realized that faith isn’t meant to be isolated; it grows when shared among people with similar hopes and struggles. I left The Living Room ATL feeling lighter, motivated, and grounded.Moving forward, I plan to return to The Living Room regularly, not only for worship but also to build relationships that sustain my growth—spiritually, emotionally, and academically. This experience showed me that success and faith don’t have to exist separately; they can strengthen each other when we make room for both.
