Jadyn Franklin - Participating in a performing arts group or ensemble (6 pts)

Reflection on Participation in the Spelman Jaguarettes Dance Team:

Critical Evaluation:

Participating in the Spelman Jaguarette Dance Team has strengthened both technical skill and artistic expression through disciplined rehearsals and performances. A major strength of this continuous experience is the team's emphasis on precision, creativity, and sisterhood, as all performances require unity and confidence. However, balancing the demanding practice schedule with academic responsibilities occasionally poses challenges. On the bright side, these challenges have taught me the value of time management, which has enhanced my experience and ability to juggle multiple responsibilities simultaneously without compromising the quality of my participation.

Synthesis:

This experience closely connects to lessons learned through the values of leadership, collaboration, and perseverance in both academic and extracurricular settings. The discipline required for synchronized movement mirrors the focus needed in rigorous classwork, while the teamwork parallels collaborative environments like research or lab classes I partake in through my major. A recurring theme across these experiences is the value of preparation, communication, and mutual support in achieving collective success.

Impact:

Being part of the Jaguarettes Dance Team has deepened my commitment to excellence, confidence, and representation, which are qualities that directly influence my future in medicine. Performing in front of audiences has reinforced the importance of remaining calm under pressure,
which is an essential skill in clinical and research environments. Moving forward, I plan to build on this experience by continuing to seek opportunities that combine discipline, artistry, and leadership, whether through community engagement, health education, or mentorship, that empower others with the same sense of confidence and teamwork fostered through dance.

Sincerely,

Jadyn Franklin, Class of 2027
