Harvard Bridge to Dental School- Class of 2027- (+5 points) Jordyn Sanders

I had the opportunity to experience a virtual 4-week program with Harvard dental students. This experience focused on Dental Admission Test preparation, what makes a good personal statement, and learning how to prepare for admission interviews through mock interviews. I valued joining a diverse group of pre-health individuals who have the same drive to pursue dentistry. What stood out most was the community that was built from this program. I was reminded of the Honors Program and our constant drive to create a community that uplifts our academic endeavours. We also had the opportunity to understand that pursuing dentistry is more than making a extremely comfortable amount of income but pursuing this career requires one to understand what equity and access are. Being able to provide quality care to underserved communities is a major part of my "why" for pursing dentistry. I was able to truly reflect and understand that there is a need for more individuals in the healthcare field that want to provide care to the broader community.
Participating in the program reinforced my commitment to dentistry and I left feeling more equipped with the tools to confidently apply to dental school in the near future.
