Guest Chamber Music Recital (Attending performance: 2 points )
On Saturday, October 11th, I decided to attend the Guest Chamber Music Recital at Mary Schmidt Campbell Center for Innovation & the Arts in Room 200. This was a part of the Spelman College Department of Music Collab Partnership with the Atlanta Music Club. This recital featured three amazing artists: Esther Park playing the piano, Jesus Castro-Babli playing the cello, and Sergiu Schwartz playing the violin.
I found all the selections played to be captivating. Although each piece had a distinct flair, the rigor and emotions did not go unnoticed. I especially appreciated the background each artist gave on the piece they played. This allowed the audience to truly be present.
Overall, the concert left me with the impression that every piece should be performed with determination and intention. The maturity of the repertoire and the way it was presented made this recital stand out compared to other concerts. I recommend attending a similar event, not only for the high level of music-making but also for the sense of community it fostered with the music department.
