Founded the AUC Pre-PA Club- 9 pts- Dominique Preston

 

This semester, I accomplished one of my biggest goals since starting my tenure at Spelman: I started the AUC Pre-PA Club! This club is for aspiring Physician Assistants to build community, network, and gain resources to help them along their Pre-PA journeys. The biggest strength of this organization is the fact that we have membership engagement from Spelman, Morehouse, and Clark Atlanta University. There is power in numbers and differing perspectives. Starting this club connects with my experience of being a freshman on the Pre-PA track a couple of years ago and having almost no guidance within that track. I am glad to be able to be a resource I wish I would’ve had back then. This activity has influenced my goals in that it has allowed me to meet so many students who also want to be PAs but in different sectors than I wanted to go into. This has me considering routes I had otherwise been closed-minded towards. To build on this experience, I hope to incorporate community service into my organization to add onto the clinical workshops we already have in place.
