Flora Clampet - Participating in Honors Program leadership roles (4 points)
After applying and interviewing before beginning my time at Spelman, I was accepted as a First-year liaison for the Class of 2029. I’ve had the opportunity to form connections with my fellow first-year students as I get to know more about their needs and questions about our community. Through our weekly e-board meetings, I've also engaged with upperclasswomen in Honors. This has been very meaningful to me as I have had few opportunities outside of these meetings to engage upperclasswomen within Honors, and I feel I have learnt much about navigating the Spelman community by speaking with them. Through this experience I have learned to better advocate for the needs of the first-year class, however, I want to better develop communication and time management skills to ensure I have fully prepared for events such as the first-year book talk and movie night. This activity motivated me to apply to Spelman Protege and other leadership experiences on campus including Spriggs-Burroughs. By taking this position, I have gained confidence in my leadership skills and I feel more secure in speaking out and advocating for my fellow students. I want to build on this experience by continuing to apply for campus leadership roles through my current activities as well as continuing to participate in HPSA.
