Executive Functioning Skill Development with Dr. Millicent Phinzy-Amaya Hall

On September 29th, 2025, SGA partnered with the Student Success Center to host an Executive Functioning Skill Development Workshop. The purpose of this event was to host a workshop to help students think holistically about their study habits and their overall health. This event was very inclusive as it included Type B, Nuerodivergent, and POC populations.

This event enlightened me on my close-mindedness when it came to my success as a Student. While being a Spelman Student is a distinction of its own, it is important to recognize the distinction, which is the difference of receiving and thinking critically. The skills I learned that resonated the most with me are:

-Exercise before you study -Think through your options, consider more than 2 -Understanding how to de-stress -The different types of "Rest". -Body Doubling/Pomodoro Method

These skills, in the past few weeks, have allowed me to study longer, think more about my work, and increase my work ethic. I have grown to greatly enjoy studying and being able to apply concepts to my overall life.
