Completing an Internship (5 points)

 

This summer, I had the incredible experience of being an intern at FIFTH SEASON on their Film Creative team. During my internship, I gained insight into how a film studio operates and observed the full creative and logistical process by interacting with employees across the company. Completing script coverage helped me sharpen my analytical skills, allowing me to present concise summaries of screenplays along with my own opinions. Observing weekly development and production meetings deepened my understanding of the film process, including budget management, hiring cast and crew, marketing, post production, and more. The highlight of my summer was my Capstone Project, where I packaged a film currently on the FIFTH SEASON slate. I was responsible for assigning a director, selecting cast members, creating a budget, and developing a music profile, marketing, and distribution strategy. Presenting this project to the Film Team and other members of FIFTH SEASON significantly strengthened my public speaking, pitching skills, and producer mind. This experience reminded me of so much of our coursework here, because I was able to see first hand how dire it is that there is Black representation in these spaces, because we are continually left out of the room and off the screen. Overall, I had such an incredible summer and I can't wait to return to this industry!
