Completed Warner Bros. Discovery Summer Internship Program

This past summer, I had the amazing opportunity to intern with Warner Bros Discovery under their HBO Docs Programming department from June 2nd to August 15th. This was my first experience with such a paramount company within the industry, and words cannot fully describe how much of an enriching experience it was. Oftentimes, during that summer when I would call my family at the end of the day or the week, I would gush to them about the experiences and opportunities I’d been privy to: an early screening of Superman, a cool meeting that I got to sit on, an awesome sweatshirt that I got for free, etc. To my ramblings, my mom would often respond something along the lines of “it sounds like you’re one step closer to achieving your dreams!” and I have no choice but to agree with her.

My time with Warner Bros. Discovery taught me that my dreams of creating stories and content that become widespread and connect with people all over the globe are not just dreams, but something that’s truly tangible, as I already got to do so every single day when I went to work. I always imagined myself pitching in those rooms, not sitting on the other side listening — but even from that vantage point, the experience was just as powerful. I still got to pitch an idea I was passionate about for my final project, but more importantly, I gained invaluable insight into the process. I was living out a version of the dream I’d held for so long. Now, with that experience under my belt, I’m hungry for more.

As a film major, being immersed in the world of programming taught me how stories are not just created, but also the strategy behind sharing them with the world. It opened my eyes to the power behind the scenes and how thoughtful decisions can make space for narratives that might otherwise go unheard. This semester and next summer, I’m hoping to build on that foundation through continuing in gaining experiences; those that allow me to step even further into the scripted development and creative process, as that’s what I envision myself doing in the future. I want to continue to be in rooms where big decisions are made, not just to observe, but to contribute meaningfully. I’m entering this next chapter with a deeper understanding of the industry, but also a deeper sense of responsibility. I want to help shape stories that matter, and ensure that what reaches audiences is bold, honest, and inclusive.
