Complete an Internship (5pts) - Kennedy Johnson
This summer I wrapped up a rotational internship at Wells Fargo, and the rotation itself was the highlight. Moving across teams let me see how decisions travel, from research and modeling to risk and client conversations, and it introduced me to driven interns from all over the country. I’m grateful for the feedback, culture, and exposure to different desks. The different divisions and desks were extremely diverse, and it really allowed me to make more informed decisions about my future career. I also enjoyed meeting so many new people from schools across the nation; it was great to connect with other college students interested in finance.
If I could change anything, I’d prefer more shadowing and hands-on training. This internship offered a lot of insight and knowledge, but I would love to hone my technical skills more as a sophomore. I’m bringing these habits back to campus with the idea of slowing down and taking each day as it comes. This summer taught me how fast-paced adult life can be and to really enjoy my time at Spelman and in college. It also taught me the power of community. I missed the famous sense of belonging, sisterhood, and community that Spelman provides and that we can often take for granted.
Ultimately, this summer gave me clarity and confidence, and I’m excited to bring that focus back to Spelman as I keep growing in finance.
