Brooke Hayes - Class of 2027 - Creating Original Artwork (5 points)

As an Art History minor and AUC Art Collective member, I usually focus on studying and interpreting the work of other artists. However, for this activity I wanted to experience the creative process myself. I decided to experiment with spray paint, a medium I had never used before, to see how color and form could develop through trial and intuition.

The final piece is abstract, featuring layers of green, yellow, orange, blue, and purple. Rather than following a set plan, I allowed the paint to guide the outcome. Through this process, I gained a better understanding of the choices and challenges artists face when creating their work. As such, making this piece helped me appreciate art not only as something to study, but as something to actively create and experience.
