Ava Flanigan C/O '27 - Leadership Role in an Academic Organization
For the 2025-2026 academic school year, I serve as the President of the AUC chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). In this role, I oversee the internal operations of the chapter and delegate tasks as needed. The AUC Chapter comprises Spelman College, Morehouse College, and Clark Atlanta University, making it one of the largest NSBE chapters.
So far, this role has taught me a great deal about leadership and the importance of delegating tasks and recognizing that one person cannot do everything by themselves. Leadership requires an understanding of when tasks need to be completed and how they should be done, so proper delegation is necessary to ensure the optimal operation of the business.
