Attend Regents' Scholarship Gala - Class of 2027

This past September I had the opportunity to attend the University System of Georgia’s Regents’ Scholarship Gala as a guest alongside my father! This was my first time attending a gala of this scale, and it was incredibly exciting and equally enriching. The evening brought together leaders, faculty, and students from institutions across the state, creating a room chock-full of inspiration and academic excellence. As a Spelman student, I sometimes feel somewhat removed from the broader network of Georgia’s public universities, so this event offered a refreshing opportunity to bridge that gap. With interesting speeches from UGA and Georgia Tech alum, a lively fundraising auction with a Scottish auctioneer, and live performances from student ensembles from Kennesaw State University, the night was a meaningful reminder of how interconnected our academic communities truly are and how collaboration across campuses can strengthen our shared commitment to achieving a higher education. I learned so much just sitting next to my father and seeing him talk to his fellow university presidents, and it was amazing to get to play a bit of an educator myself and talk about my time at Spelman to those who were a bit uneducated about the HBCU experience!
